About the Joondalup Christmas Lunch

The Joondalup Christmas Lunch is an event to provide a free Christmas Lunch to local community residents who have nowhere to go, have no family, are lonely or who cannot afford a meal of their own, or are isolated on Christmas Day. The need for such an event in the City of Joondalup is shown by the numbers of people attending the inaugural event in 2008 (over 250), increasing to over 500 people attending in 2009, and again in 2010, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 2016.   Our event compliments all other Christmas Day lunches held in the metropolitan area. The numbers of people attending show the need for such an event.

The day consists of providing a sit down Christmas lunch to white linen draped tables with white crockery and shiny cutlery, in a wonderfully decorated atmosphere representing the Christmas spirit. In addition activities will take place during the event to keep the guests entertained and add to the festive occasion.

Have You considered sponsoring the 2010 Joondalup Christmas Lunch? We are members of the community who saw a need to provide “The Spirit of Christmas” to those people who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.

In 2008 we kicked off providing a hot Christmas lunch and gifts for over 250 guests, last year this number increased to over 500. Our guests are from all walks of life; we have families who have just migrated, single parents with children who do not have an extended family, the elderly, overseas students and refugees. Some may be alone for just this Christmas, for some they have always been alone. One gentleman last year told us that he usually takes a sleeping tablet on Christmas Eve and wakes up on Boxing Day, so he does not have to spend another Christmas alone. These people are just like you and me, ordinary people who want and need to experience the true meaning of Christmas, meet new friends, enjoy the warmth of the Christmas festivities and celebrate with others. The gift you can provide is the unconditional gift of giving.

We have 3 levels of sponsorship, Gold $1500+, Silver $1000 and Bronze $500; please note that your sponsorship does not have to be in the form of money. Family passes, gifts or gift certificates are very much appreciated.

We can tell you first hand that your sponsorships and gifts will touch people’s spirit, it uplifts them and puts a smile on their faces and has a long lasting positive effect on their lives. To know that someone has blessed another unconditionally is a powerful statement to the meaning of Christmas.

No matter how big or small your gift or sponsorship it will be received with heartfelt thanks.

Are you able to make a difference and bless someone this Christmas?
